Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), an Adtalem Global Education institution, prepares students to become veterinary leaders by drawing connections among animals, people and the planet, as a member of the One Health Initiative. Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC) serves as the primary care/first opinion small animal clinic at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Offering a comprehensive range of veterinary services, including a 24-hour emergency service, RUVC mirrors the capabilities of a bustling high-street practice in North America or Europe. Committed to excellence through teamwork, continuous education, and exceptional communication and customer service, RUVC upholds the highest standards of animal care for the people and pets of St. Kitts and Nevis. Job Description

Our Clinic Director will be responsible for:

Clinical Service (40%)

  • Perform routine small animal primary care medicine and surgery, including emergency services and associated administrative duties as needed by RUVC.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime, unsociable hours, weekends, and holidays for emergency cover.

RUVC Administration (15%)

  • Oversee all aspects of clinical standards and customer service, ensuring maintenance of AAHA accreditation status.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to review and update policies and protocols related to laboratory content and student club activities, prioritizing customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure active and timely communications within RUVC's team and with associated stakeholders.
  • Manage RUVC clinician/instructor scheduling within RUVC and Essential Veterinary Skills (EVS), allowing colleagues to achieve professional goals.
  • Administer the RUSVM Controlled Substances Policy.

Teaching (30%)

  • Participate and lead Essential Veterinary Skills (EVS) laboratories, supervising seventh-semester students during rotations in RUVC and small animal medicine labs.
  • Aim to impart fundamental knowledge and skills to pre-clinical students.

Research (10%)

  • Maintain a research-active status, aiming for at least one publication per year and active involvement or pursuit of intra or extramural funding.

Professional Development (5%)

  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent international qualification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Medical Director, Hospital Director, or Practice Owner.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in small animal general practice, including sole provision of emergency care. Interest in surgery and/or dentistry is beneficial.
  • Essential desire to teach and interact with veterinary students; teaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collegially in a team atmosphere.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is beneficial.
